Getting It Right…

Hi guys!

Have you ever drawn an ellipse, held it for a second… then tapped on the edit button? If you haven’t, this is what happens… the ellipse becomes editable. You’ll see 4 control points and if you push or pull anywhere in the ellipse… it’ll allow itself to be reshaped. Another fun fact is that you can take your time changing its shape. This is awesome to our beginner friends since this technique allows you to get the shape of the ellipse just right. It also illustrates the importance of learning and understanding the ability of Procreate’s Tools. It’s no secret that Procreate doesn’t have an “auto” button that fixes things automatically, so great effort needs to be made to understand these tools more intimately.

Thinking outside of the shape

The more advanced crowd might not be so excited, because you’ve known this for a while. So to you I say this, I get it… I’m not excited either, but I’m excited about potentially seeing another perspective. I’m excited to veer out of my comfort zone to try something different. And I think Procreate facilitates this by creating tools that are very re-adjustable. So, if we create a shape, we can readjust that shape to correct it, but we can also reshape it and be inspired— inspired to create a shape that we may never have thought of because it’s out of our comfort zone.

Another example

I like gliding along the color wheel and seeing thousands of color choices in real time. Processes like these require you to know your drawing tool’s abilities. This technique effortlessly inspires experimentation which can result in something fresh and exciting. So get out of your comfort zone and give it a try!
